covering osb floor. The beams holding up the floor of our bedroom/ceiling of the sitting room were not solid enough but too beautiful to take down so we had a new “false” floor put in above the original. This was covered with osb. i would like to lay solid oak parquet around the edge, to about 1.5m in, then lay coir matting in the centre, for aesthetic Poser parquet massif a Wasquehal 59290 financial reasons i don’t want parquet throughout. however, the osb is becoming very weak in places and i suspect will not last under the coir mat. any ideas what i can do, the room is huge so the coir covering the osb will save a lot of parquet money. could i do a second layer over the osb where the coir will be and parquet over the old stuff around the edge. is there a cheaper solution as the coir area is over 20m sq so still expensive. thanks in advance. however, the osb is becoming very weak in places and i suspect will not last under the coir mat. Is it the OSB that is becoming very weak or is it the “false floor” underneath? Unless it has become wet OSB should remain solid indefinitely. Are the beams not solid enough because they were never suitable or because of their condition? If it is the former you could consider having one additional beam fitted at 90 degrees at the halfway point. I have seen this Poser parquet massif a Wasquehal 59290 totally unsuitable beams into a strong support for the bedroom floor above. that part of the house dates from the 14th C and the roof had been leaking so all was a bit weak and shaky. i removed all the terracotta tiles from the bedroom to lighten the load and have since lime plastered the exposed lattes underneath and all has held well, no cracking (as yet). the builders assured us that it was the cross beams that were unstable and that this is a safe solution. The roofers fitted new massive beams resting on the exterior walls of the house and on these the new floor was constructed. So the new floor is totally Poser parquet massif a Wasquehal 59290 of the old one. there is 60cm gap between the two. it is the osb itself that is weak in places, it is fine where it interlocks but dips a bit in the middle of a few sheets notably where we walk all the time and where the bed legs sit. The latter i thought could be remedied by putting a strip of wood under the bed legs running from one to the other to spread the weight. there are weak patches in front of the window where they got damp but as this will be covered by the parquet i imagine that will be alright. it is very reassuring that it should be tough enough, i was under the impression that is was designed to be covered by parquet and therefore my plans were not realistic.
